What to get a 3-year-old

To a three-year-old a box is a ship, a cushion is a castle, and the doll is poorly and needs a doctor. Give something that puts that imagination to work — and that's just as good for playing with new friends from nursery.

Gift ideas for a 3-year-old

Four for pretend play, four for moving and making.

For pretend play

At three, story play really starts: the child decides who is who and what happens.

To ride, build and make

Legs are steadier and fingers nimbler. Things that were too early at two are fine now.

Three: what to keep in mind

Nursery, imagination and new skills.

  • Nursery and first friends

Many children start nursery around now, and the party invitations pile up. At this age kids slowly move from playing side by side to playing together, so a gift they can share with a friend is a good one.

  • Imagination switches on

A box is a ship, a stick is a horse, the doll is "ill". Story toys — a kitchen, a car park, a doll — last longest now, because the child makes up the story.

  • 3+ is fine now — but

Three opens up small parts, modelling dough and magnetic sets. If there's a younger brother or sister at home, ask the parents: some sets are better kept on a high shelf for now.

How Wishler helps here

The parent keeps the list; the nursery group picks from it.

  1. A list the child helps with

A three-year-old will tell you what they want — sometimes three times a day. You keep the list: add from a link, Wishler fills in the photo and price (it may be approximate), and change it whenever you like.

  2. The link in the nursery group chat

A child's list has its own link, and the page shows only the day and month of the birthday, never the year. Other parents open it in any browser and install nothing.

  3. Reserve, or chip in on the kitchen

When someone reserves a gift, everyone else sees it's taken, so two identical dolls won't arrive. For the wooden kitchen, several families chip in: everyone sees what's collected and what's left, and the money goes straight to you — Wishler holds none of it.

Questions people ask

What to get a 3-year-old girl?

Lots of three-year-old girls love dolls, play kitchens and modelling dough — and may love scooters and cars just as much. Best to ask the parents what she plays with right now, or pick from her list.

What to get a 3-year-old boy?

Three-year-old boys often like cars, car parks and scooters, but they happily "cook" in a play kitchen and look after a doll too. Choose by interest, not by gender — the most accurate answer is on his list.

How much to spend when the whole nursery group is invited?

There's no rule. In some groups parents agree on an amount in the chat; if not, a board game or a dough set for 20–40 ₾ is a perfectly good gift. What matters is that gifts don't repeat, and the child's list takes care of that.

Three is the age of imagination

Two minutes for your child's list, one link in the nursery chat — and no two identical dolls.
